Steak Out to the Movies

“No, just popcorn and a drink is fine.”

Every once in a while she would eat some popcorn and drink some soda. But when she did she would try her best to avoid touching his hand in fear of making things more awkward. She would also sneak a glance at Yosuke. Just to see his reaction to the movie of course. About halfway through the movie and when it started to get dramatic, Chie started to fidget while silently cheering the main character on in her head.

While watching the movie Yosuke carefully slipped his arm over Chie’s shoulder and pulled her closer to himself. He was hoping that the darkness of the cinema would be able to hide his embarrassed face. He never had done this sort of thing before and it was only because nobody could see what he was doing that he went ahead with this. Yosuke continued to watch the movie and seeing that his arm hasn’t been pushed away Yosuke then planned his next move.

As soon as the scene in the movie was intense enough for people not to be looking around, Yosuke went in and planted a kiss on Chie’s cheek. Quickly looking back to the screen, with his free hand he covered his mouth though it wouldn’t do much for his now completely red face.

When Yosuke put his arm around her, Chie glanced over at him and blushed a light shade of pink. She felt him pull her closer and briefly thought about pulling away but decided against it. It was kind of nice.

Focused on the movie, Chie didn’t notice Yosuke moving until she felt his lips touch her cheek. Her blush went from pink to red. Should she kiss his cheek too or act like it didn’t happen? Chie turned her head to face him but quickly turned back toward the screen. Chie wasn’t sure why she did it since she was certain she wouldn’t be able to speak properly at the moment.

Chie looked down at him when he mumbled. She tilted her head to the side a little, as if it would help her hear him better if he were to mumble again. “What was that?”

“Nothing… nothing at all.”

Yosuke rubbed his shin as if he was trying to wipe the pain off his leg. Not that it would do anything to the pain in reality. Now looking up at Chie while still rubbing the pain away.

“So… what brings you to this part of town anyway?”

“Uh huh.” 

Chie lazily shrugged her shoulders. “I had nothing to do and thought that I’d go out for a walk here instead of down by the flood plain. What are you doing here?”

Leading her into a dance, he takes some steps, twirling the girl while still keeping a firm grip. After a few minutes, the tango is over. "You can hit me now."

After the dance Chie stood unsure of what to say and stared at him in confusion for a minute. “.. Ken? W-what was that all about?”
